Its been quite sometime since I've posted here and its been brought to my attention that its a shame. I agree.
Thankfully, the holiday season is upon us and in the world of college and semesters and such, that means I'm on break!! :D Thank the heavens. This semester really did me in and with the 21 credits I'm set to take next semester, I'm sure Spring 2010 shall be even more relentless...
At least I feel a bit more like I'm working towards something now; I'm making moves to officially declare as a double major in Writing (non Fiction with a secondary genre in Poetry to be exact :) ) and I plan on spending the bulk of this vacation buried in scholarship applications and the like for Amsterdam. Not sure where all of this is headed, but it sure ain't no where.
Amsterdam, oh how I dream of you. I wonder about how it smells, how it feels to be there. If the sky looks different there or if I'll feel free. I don't particularly plan on going in with any expectations, but a girl can't help but let her mind wander....
And with vacation comes reconnection with the world: its been so more with the digital world than the real world mostly. I am a product of the digital age. I crawled out from the rock I've been hiding other and am now fully equipped with a Twitter, Tumblr and Last FM. They're all so much fun, I'll just think of them as Christmas toys :D. I'll post the links to all of those accounts somewhere on here so I can be stalked from all fronts.
Welcome to the digital enclosure? Well, I never said I wasn't an exhibitionist ;).
This whole blogging thing is really as self-indulgent as possible but whats the point of being in the world if you're not going to think about life and your place in it every once in a while?
I'll post here more, I promise.
Need to catch the thoughts as they come, they're ever fleeting.

Time of the Season...
Just starting to get in the groove of things. I've been meaning to start this blog for sometime now and I figured there'd be no time like the present. Its pretty bare bones for now but I figured that once I got things started (and figure out what I could possibly write that people will actually sit, read and think about) things would ultimately fall into place.
So lets see...I guess I should introduce myself, huh? Well, I'm Johanna Valdés. I was born September 6th 1989 and turned 20 a little over a week ago. Born and raised in the boogie down Bronx. Catholic School girl for life although I'm as far removed from Catholicism as humanly possible. I go to Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts and have recently decided to major in Culture and Media and possibly minor or double-major in Writing.
Fascinating, I know. I promise, I get way less drab than this. I don't know if I could really summarize in one post though. I'm never really good with introductions anyway. Thats why you, my dear reader, should keep reading.
What you can expect from this blog is hearing my somewhat random thoughts on the world and everything in it that grabs my attention. My ultimate intention is to use this as a place to explore my ideas as I try to make them relevant in my study on my place in the world in relation to every thing that created and effects me.
This probably makes me sound like an ego maniac. I'm not, I swear. I've just got this theory brewing that everything is defined in terms of an individuals perception of the world. I'm trying to explore this idea in a few different ways this one being a place where I get to gather my thoughts, leak them into cyber space and get feedback from everyone that would like to further inform my universe.
Confused? Thats natural. I seldom make sense. If you understand or would like to, please subscribe, keep reading and let me know what you'd like to see here.
I love you,
jo
